In this workshop we were given different fonts; Baskerville Bold Italic, Din Alternate and Cooper Std. I deconstructed sections of the fonts to create stencils which i then used to create abstract prints.
In the first poster i did, i looked at Baskerville Bold Italic. I took the first section of the W in the font and the stem of the Y and drew them blown up in to a stencil which i then used to create a random pattern for my print. In the second poster, i looked at Din alternate. I drew out half an X and the curved section of the P to create this print.

- Millenials
people born from 1980 - 2000
worldwide we are more similar to each other than previous generations because of western culture and social media impact
examples;
examples;
generation maybe - 'we want to be there and not miss anything anywhere'
generation serious - grown up in a time where we are familiar with terrorism, e.g. 9/11
generation snowflake - more prone to taking offence and less resilient than previous generations, too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge their own
education? bad parenting?
mental health is as important as physical health
-Bipolar Disorder; people who suffer with this disorder choose the "face" that others will see enabling them to hide their emotions and cover up.
-Split; Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder
Mood board 1; Hyperrealities
- things aren't always as they seem e.g. Black Mirror & similar programmes, Disneyland, dreams
Mood board 2; Mental Health
-split personality disorders, hidden emotions, e.g. Split (film),

After Effects - Cameras, Z-Space and 3D
For this session we had to prepare some work in Illustrator to use in the workshop, we had to create a background scene using 10-12 layers with only one colour in each. My group's theme was The Universe so i created a Space scene. We could have parts of it going outside of the art board so that when we animate it using a camera in After Effects it would have a better effect.

We used this Illustrator file in our workshop to create a short 10 second animation clip, taking inspiration from the following clip;
We used the same style of work as was used in the All We Ever Wanted music video, for example using textures over the top of our colours, using the peel effect to make it look like different elements were being stuck on to the page and also the use of the camera to tell the story. I enjoyed the workshop but i felt that the way i set up my Illustrator document made my final animation look weird in places, for example i did shading on the planets on a different layer which meant when they flipped up they went at a different rate to the planet it was supposed to be shading.

Self-Publishing; The Stencil
This workshop was inspired by the protests and demonstrations in May 68 in France. The civil unrest in the country at the time spurred on an artistic movement of political graphic art with hundreds of silkscreen poster prints being created in order to protest.
I chose to use a stencil of a fist and the lyrics 'choke me', i played around with different colour combinations to create random designs which was fun to do and then later on experimented using black paper and white paint, using the bit i cut out of the stencil to create a cool effect which i thought turned out quite well.
'weapons in the service of the struggle'In our Workshop we chose at random an image and some text from the stone roses song 'Bye Bye Badman' which we then drew and cut out using a craft knife and made in to a stencil. We used different coloured paints and a roller to create different poster designs using our stencils to make quick signs which can be replicated easily.

Cinema4D
During this workshop we were shown how to use Cinema4D as a tool for graphic design. This really appealed to me as i think you can make some really interesting designs in 3D so i was keen to lean how to use the software.
We were shown examples of this in practice such as Channel 4's recent rebrand;
First we had to create a simple logo in Illustrator which we transferred in to Cinema4d as this makes it easier to work with. We added colour and text and experimented with different effects.

After rendering this copy we added more effects and added the luminance effect to the colours to make it more vibrant.
After this we were shown briefly how to animate this by using the camera view and rotating on the axis;
